We Suggest Thant Prior To Any And All Treatments, That You Confer With Your Pet's Veterinarian Regarding All Flea Products And Efforts To Control Parasites Such As Fleas, Ticks, And Ear Mites.

Being a pet owner is a lot of fun, however it can also be a huge responsibility. If you are boarding your pet, please CHECK YOUR PET for the presence of fleas BEFORE AND AFTER leaving your pet with us for any length of stay. A thorough examination will assure you of the origin of your pet's infestation (should he have fleas). Frequently we hear customers complain, "my pet came home from the kennel with fleas". We find this highly irregular. We inspect the incoming pets for a flea problem and dip all who harbor the unwanted guests. As well, we treat the kennel facility (including the grass) once weekly with Zodiac Yard & Kennel Spray. The grooming areas are "bombed" regularly as well. The quantity of parasite control agents (dips) which drop off the dogs (and cats) in the drying area is in itself quite a deterrent to a resident population of fleas in those areas.

OUR DIP IS A CURE ONLY, IT IS NOT A PREVENTION AGAINST REINFESTATION!!! Fleas can not be repelled by the dip alone. the most common problem is reinfestation. Why can't the dip prevent the repeated return of fleas? Think about this for a moment and you will understand that any chemical toxic enough to kill (and keep killing) fleas must be quite toxic to your pet. If we used a chemical to accomplish the effectual repelling of fleas, we would subject your pet to the very probable risk of toxic poisoning. Remember the old saying: "the only way to prevent fleas is to prevent the host"! When you remove the pet from the home you are starving the fleas and removing their feeding grounds. When your return the pet to the household, fleas literally will swarm over your pet in an effort to satisfy their need for nourishment. We can not "increase the strength" or use "stronger" dips for the reason stated above. While we see all sorts of product claims: "kill fleas for up to 30 days", etc. . I have never witnessed any truth in any of these claims in our climate.

If your pet is sensitive to one type of dip, PLEASE TELL US PRIOR to our treatment. We can use less toxic ("organic") compounds which are less harsh to those animals who are "allergic" to dips or who are simply more sensitive to dip. If you have a cat, it should be noted that there are ONLY a couple of types of dip suited for use on felines. The use of canine (dog) based preparations on cats will possibly result in the cat's death or severe illness. Our technicians are very aware of the special precautions to be used when subjecting cats to the dip. Ask them should you have any questions.

The act of dipping is in itself a misnomer. The dip is applied by pressurized a applicator and never is the animal submersed in a tank of dip! While the chemicals are strong, they are not instantaneous in their action. It could take as long as twelve (12) hours for the dip to "finish off" the most stubborn of fleas. The more mild dips may actually not kill all fleas, and therefore repeated treatments are sometimes indicated. Remember these fleas have "shells" similar to that of a crab and the penetration of the chemical through the shell can sometimes take twenty-four (24) hours or more. Likewise, remember that we are trying to cure a problem which took a period of time to occur--it may take a period of time to cure the problem. We will make every effort to remove all fleas, however, it is normal to expect to find dead or dying fleas in your pet's coat and they may remain there for some time until they detach themselves from the coat and skin. No amount of combing and bathing will remove all dead fleas. A thorough examination of your pet before leaving is the only way to tell if we have missed the fleas. WE WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR "FLEAS LEFT ON YOU PET" IF YOU FAIL TO POINT THIS OUT TO US PRIOR TO LEAVING OUR FACILITY!! The reason for this policy is because many people return their pets to flea infested yards or home areas and we have no control over this type of reinfestation. If your pet is "flea free" when you leave our shop, and then has fleas (even a short time after returning home) then you have the all too common reinfestation problem.

Remember, there is not one single product that will completely control the parasites that infest your pets and home. This is the reason alone why pest control companies have developed differing lines of pest control products. We hope that this has been informative, and WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATRONAGE.
